The 20th International Exhibition-Fair "AGRO-2008"
was opened by the President of Ukraine V. A. Jushchenko
and the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko.
The ceremonies were also attended by Ukrainian
Minister for Agrarian Policies Yuriy Melnyk, Minister
for Industrial Policy Volodymyr Novytsky, as well
as agriculture ministers of Germany, Fance, Austria,
Denmark, Macedonia, Turkey, Hungary, Bulgaria,
Egypt, Poland, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Belarus,
and Georgia.
The exhibition attracted 2,220 participants
and almost 500,000 visitors. Beside the Ukrainian
participation, 120 companies from 27 countries
have taken part in "AGRO-2008". During
the exhibition 80 conferences, seminars and meetings
of agricultural themes were presented by Ukrainian
and foreign ministries, committees, embassies,
associations and companies.
Traditionally the specialized exhibition of
animal industries and veterinary medicine "ANIMAL'EX",
the exhibition for horse breeding and equestrian
sport "EquiWorld", the specialized exhibition
"Mushroom Industry", and the specialized
exhibition for fish farming and fishery "FISHEXPO"were
held in the frame of "AGRO-2008". For
the first time the specialized exhibition for
renewable energy "Biofuel"was organized
in the frame of AGRO.
The 7th specialized exhibition of animal industries
and veterinary medicine "ANIMAL'EX-2008"
was placed in pavilion 8 and 12, and on the open
areas near these pavilions. Here the equipment
for the animal industries, forages and live animals
were shown. In this exhibition Visitors were especially
interested in biogas, substitutes of milk, and
equipment for pig farms.
About 75 companies took part in the 3rd specialized
exhibition "MUSHROOM INDUSTRY 2008"
and more than 120 participated in the international
conference.
The 47 participants of "FISHEXPO-2008"
were placed in pavilion 10. They presented various
live fishes, new technologies of cultivation and
transportation of live fish. Visitors of the exhibition
have shown special interest to purchase fish eggs
for cultivation, selections of fishes and technologies
of cultivation for fishes. Some 200 representatives
of private enterprises were able to find equipment
for new reservoirs for fish cultivation and/or
for expansation existing fish cultivations.
Traditionally achievements of agrarian science
and formation were represented in pavilion 2.
More than 200 scientific development of the new
generation were offered to farmers.
Group stands of Germany, Denmark, Georgia,
Poland, Spain, and other foreign exhibitors were
placed in pavilions 3 and 6.
The regions of Ukraine have been located in
pavilions 7 and 9 on 1,300 sq. m. More than 700
enterprises presented products of all Ukrainian
regions.
On almost 20 thousand sq. m. agricultural
machinery, equipment, and tools were presented
in pavilions 9 and 13, and on the open areas around.
The exhibitors presented dimensional and small-sized
techniques for processing, irrigation equipment,
equipment for gathering, crop and landings, equipment
for storage, drying of grain, etc.
Plant growing section was presented in pavilions
1 and 1a. More than 150 enterprises presented
fruit-and-vegetable growing, seed-growing, agro
chemistry, cultivation and care of plants, mineral
and microbiological fertilizers.
